Swindon Choral Society, comprising about 80 singers, perform 3 or 4 concerts each year in Swindon and the surrounding area. During its 90-year existence, it has performed most of the main choral works as well as lesser known, first performances, commissions and lighter repertoire. In 2023, we sang Choral Evensong at Salisbury Cathedral which was a new discipline for the choir to master. Most years, we do a few Carol Singing events at Christmas as well.
As with many organisations, we returned, post-Covid, with fewer numbers but we have been slowly building up over the last couple of years. Since coming out of the Covid pandemic, we have said goodbye to Robin Nelson, our musical director of 20 years, and welcomed Elinor Cooper as our new director.
